Something that I suffer from is inevitabley losing all of my scrappin mojo when I finally have time to do it. I was so busy last term and spent nearly every minute of any "free" time that I had doing homework. I neglected my scraps and usually didn't finish my Rusy Pickle projects until the last day of each month. Before the term ended I dreamt of being able to spend a few hours each day in my scrapbooking room over my break. And while I've tried to accomplish that, I just haven't had any creative juices flowing. After sitting at my desk for 30 minutes or so I'd walk out because I was accomplishing nothing. Yesterday, though, I finally did something! After browsing around in Joann's (which is weirdly my goto inspirational place) I was inspired and came straight home and got to work. Well, once T was down for her nap, that is. And I even stayed up until midnight working on it. Yay! I'm making a really cute seasonal altered frame with the new Bottle Rockets line. I plan on finishing it tonight or tomorrow and I'll post it as soon as I do. I then plan on starting my challenge for next month. It'll be posted Monday, July 7th so, be sure to look forward to that. And as always, a great package from the Rusty Pickle warehouse will be up for grabs.
Obviously, I haven't even started my MMM layouts as planned. *sigh* It's okay though. I'll just scrap double time next month and probably finish them up right before the deadline. Wishful thinking, I know...cross your fingers for me.
Let's talk about Terrance now. Each day she amazes me with not only her extensive ability to understand me completely, but also how she responds to dh and I. For instance, she loves to go outside and when I ask her if she wants to go she promptly runs to find her coat and shoes and brings them to me. She loves to get her teeth brushed, but she thinks it's a game. I tell her, "lets brush your teeth." She runs into the kitchen (where I keep her toothbrush and baby toothpaste) and stands next to me and watches me put the toothpaste on her brush. But the second I step towards her, she gets a huge smile on her face and runs away giggling. And then she giggles the entire time I'm brushing her teeth. Each time I ask her if her diaper needs changed and it does, she runs to the bedroom door (where the changing table is) and waits for me. And just recently, within the last 2 weeks, I have begun signing to her and I'm stunned at how quickly she's picking up the signs and the concept of them. She knows "eat" and "drink" very well, she was actually using them just a day after showing them to her. I'm using a few others now like, "finished," "more," "hungry," and "thirsty." While she understands the words and responds knowingly to them with her grunts, she hasn't completely mastered the signs. We'll get there though. =)
The other day a gal at My Scrapbook Nook linked this site. The woman that owns it is sarcastic, witty and absolutely histerical. To experience her in all her glory please read the "about this site" and the "faq" pages.
Oh, and Rusty Pickle has launched a monthly newsletter where we spotlight products, chefs, chef challenges, and other great non-chef projects among other things. I don't think there's a direct link to sign up for it yet, but if you send a request to newsletter@rustypickle.com you'll be added to list of recipients.
All right, that's it. I'm out.
*Comment Challenge*
Okay, so each month I get to RAK (random act of kindness) someone to receive a great package of product that comes from the Rusty Pickle warehouse. Friday is the deadline for me to turn in the name and address of this month's RAK and since I don't have anyone yet, I thought I'd let you lurkers play for it.
Here's how:
It's a very simple game that I'm sure you've all either played before or at least have heard of. Take the word from the previous comment and write a new word that begins with the last letter from that word. Make sense? Here's an example: apple ==> new word: eggplant. Simple, right? Oh yeah, and a heck of a way to win some free product. Here's the catch, the winner will be the person that has posted the most comments from now until Friday morning (midnight). Now that doesn't mean that you get to post off of your own words. There must be AT LEAST ONE different commenter between your comments. So, if Sally, Jesse and Rapheal are playing the comments may go: Sally, Jesse, Sally, Rapheal, Sally, Jesse....not Sally, Sally, Sally, Jesse, Rapheal, Sally--got it?
Okay, one other thing: if you're playing please email your mailing address to alyciasanders@gmail.com so that if you're the winner I can promplty turn your info in Friday morning to receive the RAK. If you fail to do this I will NOT email you for it, the prize will go to the person with the next greatest amount of comments that gave me their address.
One more thing to note: the words must be scrapbook related. This means, well known designers, manufacturers, products, paper lines...literally anything scrapbook related! If your comment fails to follow that guideline it will not count. All right, ready? Here's the first word:
BOTTLE ROCKETS
So, the next word should start with an "S"
sheesh. I goof'd. Instead of saucer (brain fart):
